No Playing Around Fire

We went camping last weekend. It was a little chilly, but we had a good time. Saturday the kids were thrilled to "walk" Brian and Doni's dog Sophie.

Allyson was having so much fun walking the dog. She was doing such a good job, but would watch the dog and not where she was walking. Around 6 pm, she tripped on the fire pit (that was full of hot ashes, but no flame) and fell in. We immediately put water on her hands. We decided to take her to the emergency room to get things cleaned well. Allyson did so well while we were in the ER. She cried, but after we were finished, she said it was because she was scared she was going to get a shot. For a treat, she wanted a sucker. Here she is on the way back to the campground (she still wanted to camp - just not walk Sophie anymore) with her left hand wrapped and her right wrist wrapped, and both legs below the knee wrapped.

Here are a few pictures of her wounds. Her right wrist (not hand - because she was holding the dog leash!) and some blisters on the fingers on the left hand.

Her right leg has quite a few burn areas below the knee. Her left leg just had a scrape from the fire pit.

Here is Allyson and her Webkinz horse Copper, after her bath, before we put the "frosting" on her burns and cover them.

Dear Allyson, It makes Grandma sad to see you burns and knowing how bad it must have hurt. Your a little tooper. I think there must have been an Angel there at the Campsite watching out for you - that is wasn't any worse than it was.You take care! Know Granma Mary loves you very much.

That is my worst fear whenever there's a campfire. It can happen so easily. Ugh! So sorry this happened to Allison! So thankful it wasn't worse. What a brave girl!
