Brickyard 400 and 4 wheeler rides

Sunday, Broc was at the Brickyard 400 race in Indianapolis. When we got home from church and lunch at Grandpa and Grandma's we watched a little bit of the race. Caden wanted to talk to daddy while watching the race. He was so funny. As he was talking on the cell phone, he would be very quiet. He would say "I'm listening to the race cars" and then he would talk to daddy and say "I'm being good daddy."
He continued to do this for about 10 minutes, and probably could have done so a lot longer. I think that he just missed his daddy.

Later in the afternoon, Grandma came over and gave the kids 4 wheeler rides. They had a lot of fun and talked about the rides the rest of the day!

Our weekend

Broc was gone to the Brickyard 400 race in Indianapolis this weekend, so it was just the kids and I. He left with 5 other guys on Wednesday evening.
Friday we stayed home and did laundry, caught up on some housework, and played.
Saturday, we went to some friend's to play on their home made "slippy slide".

After the water fun, we walked to the park and the kids went down the big curvy slide, (all by themselves) and played on the teeter totters.

We got home about 6pm. Both kids were beat - so I made a pizza and we watched the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Concert. Here is Caden with the 3D glasses on.

Catch up blogger!

Catching up on this past week.
Sunday after church we went to my Grandpa and Grandma for dinner.
Allyson loves to play with Grandma's doll.

Playing the marble game that Grandpa made.

Broc has spent most of his free time working on the bus to get it ready to go on the trip.
Tuesday evening, the kids finally were able to get a ride in the bus. It was like a dream come true for them. They were so excited to ride the bus. We had just finished baths when daddy came to tell us he could give us a rids on the bus.

As we are riding on the bus, Caden looks at me and says (with a great big smile on his face), "I'm happy!"

Wednesday evening, Dave stopped by to help with the bus, and the kids got to sit in his semi truck. They thought that was great! Thanks Dave!

Caden found a butterfly.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today was my birthday. I had a good day. I worked and then went to power pace class.
When we got home, my mom and dad came over to paint Allyson's "new room".
We grilled burgers and had donuts with candles. It was a fun birthday!
Thanks to all who helped to make it special!
(Sorry - no pictures of the day! - Can you tell who takes most of the pics in the family?)

DeBoom Reunion

This past Friday evening, there was a DeBoom reunion.
It was neat to see my Grandpa's brothers and sisters.
This is a picture of the group.

Here is me with my Grandpa and Grandma.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

You Are Ariel!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Headstrong and fiesty. You have a mind of your own that's full of romantic dreams about the world around you. Exploring exotic places is your ultimate dream, and although you can be a little naive you'll realize that there is something to be gained from your family's wisdom.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

I have always liked The Little Mermaid. I would say this is pretty true.

Take this quiz yourself and post on your blog which princess you are, or leave a comment to let me know. How fun!
Maybe this comes from Allyson being very into Disney Princesses right now!

DSO-DOO3 challenge

Okay - the title looks kinda funny. Let me explain. In my web surfing, I recently came across this site.
They have weekly challenges to participate in. Well, since I am new to the scrapbooking thing, I decided to try this one. They give you a template for a card, and you create from there. I figured since I have been making cards for over 4 years, I thought this would be right up my alley.
Here is what I came up with.
Design template by RCMama. Kit by DSO "Scrap Journal".

Riding the "Weed Wacker"

Last evening, we made a cake and brought it to share with Grandpa Rick and Grandma Kay.
Kyle, Jess, Sam and Tessa were there too - so we all had cake.
The kids loved playing on the swingset together.

Dinosaur Head

Broc is planning to go to the Indianapolis race next weekend. In preparation for this, he is "tuning up" the bus that will make the trip. Every year a group of guys go to this race. The bus is named "The Boar's Nest". You can use your imaginations.
The kids wanted to see in the bus, and they found this "dinosaur head bones". Broc showed them and they really weren't afraid. He then explained that it was really pig head bones.

Snapshots

On Sunday after church, we just took a few snapshots. There were a few that turned out pretty good. (I am a little biased.)
Here is one that I did a little playing with. Enjoy.

Hole in One

Saturday evening, Broc and Caden went mini golfing with Brandy and Tye. Just a boys night out.
They went mini golfing and had tons of fun. This is the first time Caden has mini golfed.
On hole 5, they all hit their balls, and they had to go down a hill. When they went to retrieve their ball to putt again, Caden couldn't find his ball. It turns out he had a hole in one! Way to go buddy!
After golfing, they went to Buffalo Wild Wings. Broc always orders spicy, and Caden was begging him to try - so he did - but pulled a terrible face (he didn't like it)! Thanks to daddy for taking the pictures!

Gettin' Digi

Okay, all you digital scrappers - you know who you are!
I am looking for a little advise.
This is one of the first pages that I have actually dared to post -or at least gotten to the point that I am somewhat happy with it. (Usually I get 1/2 way into the page, and I just close it all out and delete because I get frustrated!)
Thanks Candi for the one on one tutoring session at Easter, which got me started digital scrapping, (and a class at a local photo studio).

I am looking for a little help on this one to get it completed. - on the photo frame, it looks like I can put the picture in the lower layers to make it look stacked. Any tips on how to do that? Any other ideas for the page are welcome too.

The products I used are from DSO Scrap Journal kit.

Happy 4th Birthday Eli!

Last night, Allyson and I went to Eli's 4th birthday party. Caden and dad stayed home due to not feeling well. We had pizza and then cake and ice cream! It was a camouflage theme.

This picture is a "Kyle Pile" as we call it.
Somehow Uncle Dan is usually the instigator of these, but the kids love them.
Here we have Kyle, Dan, Carly, Eli, and Allyson in on the fun!

Congratulations Kyle and Jess on your engagement!

(I want to appologize for some of my pictures being a little blurry - I had my camera set on a different setting - and didn't realize it until after the night was over.)

Gifts from China

When Grandpa Rick was in China, he got the kids each a t-shirt for the upcoming Olympics to be held in Bejing. Here are a few pics of the kids modeling them. I thought since the Olympics will be starting in less than a month, it was about time to post them.

This is the back of the shirt, the front of the shirt, and the bottom right corner of the shirt respectively.

Thanks Grandpa Rick for the great shirts!

4th of July weekend

We went camping for the 4th of July with the Kessel's and the Noyes'. We had a great time. Friday, July 4th, we spent most of the day at the beach, as it was beautiful. We cleaned up in the early evening, had a great supper, and then watched fireworks. Saturday was really windy, but warm, so in the morning, Caden and dad went home to mow, and Ally and mom did a little second hand store shopping. We went to the beach in the afternoon. Sunday was extremely humid - (okay, I may be exagerating a little, but that is because we have had very few humid days until now). We skipped breakfast and went straight to the beach for awhile and then at noon, cleaned up, grilled burgers and packed up to go home.
We hope everyone had a great Independence Day and took a moment to remember those that worked so hard to give our nation it's freedom.

Caden and Allyson loved playing in the lake with the inflatable boat. They did a great job of taking turns pulling each other. They were occupied for hours.

Allyson and Tyler K. watching fireworks. We were driving to town to see the fireworks, and they started, so we pulled off on a gravel road and watched them. We didn't want to miss them all. It wasn't quite the same, but we had fun.

One of our favorite things about camping is eating strawberry pancakes. This is a treat we only have when camping.
