Snack with Grandpa and Grandma "Dis"

This morning we went to visit one set of Caden and Allyson's Great Grandparents. We ate donuts with sprinkles on them, or cookies.
The second pictures is of the alligator cookie jar - when you open the lid, the alligator says "Mmm, Mmm. Those sure are some tasty cookies."
All the great grandkids really love this.
Thanks grandpa and grandma for a fun morning!

Making Cards

Caden and Ally were using stamps that Grandma Kay gave us and also some of mom's to make some cards.

New Shoes

Ally got a new pair of shoes and wanted to show them off.

Update on Surgery today

I wanted to give you all an update again on the surgery Caden had this morning. We left home about 4:15 to be at the hospital at 5:30. (That is way too early for this mom!)
Surgery went really well. The dr seemed very happy with the way things looked.
We will have to keep his finger covered for the weekend - especially the area where the bone was wired down - to make sure that no infection can get to the bone. Once that area scabs over, then the infection risk decreases considerably and we can pretty much keep the bandages off and take a normal bath. The nurse in me is very curious and wants to peek under the bandages, but I will wait until tomorrow like we were told.
Thanks again for all your prayers!

"Upcakes" in the park

I had to run a few errands this morning - so we picked up "upcakes" and went to the park. The kids got to pick out their own cupcakes. There was a cute one with a frosting spider - but neither one wanted to eat a spider! After the cupcakes - we took advantage of the beautiful August day and played in the park.

Update on Caden's finger

Sorry - no pictures right now, I just wanted to give you all an update on Caden's finger.
We went to see the dr on Tuesday, and he thought everything was looking very good. It was the first time that I was actually able to see it well after the surgery, and I was impressed at how well it looked - (I guess I just pictured the worst).
He is scheduled to have surgery on Thursday, August 30 in the am.
Thanks for all the prayers that have been said for us - we can feel them, as Caden's finger is showing no signs of infection, and he continues to do very well with the situation. It doesn't slow him down much.

Dora

Allyson loves Dora the Explorer. This is her posing with some of her Dora stuff and dressed in her Dora jammies - that she would wear all day long - everywhere if she could.

Rocket Slide

There is a rocket slide in our local park that the kids think is the greatest. They call it the "rocket ship".
This slide has been around along time - I remember playing on it when I was little.
Dad helps the kids get up the slide.

Sore Finger

Caden had an accident and got his left index finger caught in the mower trailer and it took a piece of his finger. He had surgery on 8-10 to help repair his finger. Now he has to have it wrapped up for 2-3 weeks and then will have another surgery to further repair his finger. After a day of dr's and hospitals, he is running around and playing. You would never guess anything happened except for his hand is wrapped up.

Boating

We went out on the boat on Sunday - The kids loved the tube. Caden didn't want to get out.
Everything that Tyler said or did in the tube, Caden and Allyson copied. It was so much fun to watch them.
I even skied - not for very long - it was the end of the day and I was getting tired, but I did get up on the first try. YEAH!

Fresh Veggies

We have been taking advantage of the summer treat of eating lots of fresh veggies from the garden. No - I don't have a veggie garden, but I have some great friends and co-workers who have been sharing their harvest.
These are pic's of the kids eating sweet corn. We also love the green beans, broccoli, yellow squash and zucchini. If anyone has any good recipes for the squash or zucchini, we would love to try them - if you would pass them along to us.

Rocks in my Pocket

Caden and Allyson love to put rocks in their pockets at daycare when they play outside. They come home and are very proud of the rocks that they have in their pockets. I wanted to capture Allyson sharing her rocks.

Finally Some Rain

It finally rained yesterday. It has been over a month since we last had any rain. Caden wanted his picture taken in the rain - but didn't want to pose too long - he was "getting wet"
The grass is really brown, and the corn is even showing the moisture stress.
