Things spoken

I just wanted to post a few things that the kids have said over this past week.

Caden was picking a scab. He proclaimed to me "I pick my pickle!"

Allyson loves to go into my room and put on my lotion and lip balm that are on the dresser. After putting both on, she says, "I'm a mommy now, mommy!"

Caden was going to play at a friend's house. As we are pulling into the driveway he says "I want to jump on the biolin" meaning he wanted to jump on the trampoline.

Football

Sunday after church, we went out to enjoy the beautiful weather. It was 88 degrees but a little windy. The kids loved playing catch with Daddy and Grandpa with the football and just being outside.

Fall Fun

This weekend, we spent a lot of time at a local state park. We had fun roasting marshmallows around the campfire, going on a hike, and just being outside in the beautiful weather.

First Day of Sunday School

Today was the first day of Sunday School for the kids. They were both excited and did quite well. There are 7 kids in their class including them. Today they learned about God and how He created the world and all the colors when it started out as darkness. They are looking forward to next week already!

Farewell Spiders

We are going to the dr today to get Caden's "spiders" (stitches) out. I thought I would post a picture of his hand without any band-aids or anything on it. It is looking really nice!
I wanted to mention a few things that he has said about his spiders, so that looking back we will remember them.
When Caden is looking at his hand, he will occasionally say "My spiders are waking up"
Meaning that they are moving.

Who gets more use?

I had to post this. The kids absolutely love to play on the treadmill. I would have to honestly say that they are getting more use out of it than I am. (Although, I am using it too!) They love to "swing" from the handles.

Day at the park

Friday, we got to spend an unexpected day at the park. It started out as a normal morning, and then Caden was running a low grade fever, so we decided to take him in, since it could possibly be related to the surgery last week. (it wasn't - just a laryngitis - but we did get antibiotic, just in case). We were backing out of the parking space at the clinic, when I heard a clunk in the van.
I went to put the van in drive, and had no power steering. It turned out to be a drive belt. Very easy to fix - but the part had to come from about 1 1/2 hours away :>(
We had at least 3 hours to "waste" so the kids and I went out to dinner and then walked (a long way) to the park.
This day reminded me of how thankful I am for a vehicle that I can drive around it when I need to. It was also a good time to just take our time on the walk. We saw lots of "creatures (bugs)" on the trip. Of course this mom didn't take her camera along because we were just "going to the dr."
On the positive side, it was a beautiful day - and we got to spend most of it outside!

Homemade Ice Cream

Also on Monday, we went to Grandpa Wayne's house and "helped" make homemade ice cream. It was very good!

Labor Day parade

On Monday, we went to the parade in town. We sat with Grandpa and Grandma and Aunt Tami. We had a lot of fun picking up candy and other goodies that were thrown out.

"Spiders"

Caden's finger is looking really good. We took the bandages off this morning. The only band-aid that we really need is the one to cover the middle of his finger - where the wire was. The stitches on the palm of his hand and also the finger bother him. He says "I don't want those spiders on it."
So rather than have him be upset about the "spiders", we put Mater and Lightning bandaids on those areas.
