Oh! Those Curls!

Cousins

Eli, Caden and Allyson posing for a picture.

Little Cowboy and Cowgirl

The other day Caden and Allyson were watching the Backyardigans and on the cartoon, they were pretending to be cowboys - so Caden and Allyson were creative and used washclothes - the ones we used to wash hands after breakfast - to put on their heads and pretended they were cowboy hats. I was in a store the next day and found these hats. I couldn't resist.

Happy Anniversary

Today we are celebrating 8 years of marriage. These are the flowers that Broc bought for me.
Thanks honey!

Trains

Caden enjoys playing with his geo trax train set. This is fun because there are some engines that run on batteries to make train noises and you control them with the remotes.

Fort Fun

Caden and Allyson love to play underneath the kitchen table and make forts. They take a bunch of blankets and as you can see by the picture, anything else that is a favorite toy/item at that moment and put them under the table with them.
It is so cute - they are really starting to play pretend. Sometimes they pretend they are going to "school". They will put their backpacks (full of stuff) and walk around the house.

The sweet moments

This is one of those cute moments that you occasionally catch on camera. Just after waking up, the kids like to watch cartoons.

My Little Pony

Allyson got a my little pony in hopes that she would keep her hands busy with the pony's hair, rather than pulling out her own hair.
She loves her pony and likes to take it everywhere with her. This pony even talks. Hopefully this will help. She has such cute curls in the back, but not much hair at all in the front!

Pretty Tootsies

Allyson and mom had time to do some "girlie stuff" while the guys were outside mowing the lawn. Allyson chose to have her nails painted. Even before she was 1 year old, she has always sat very still to have this done. Allyson chose the color purple for her nails! She also wanted to model the bracelet that Grandma Kay brought back for her from Florida. Thanks Grandma!

Summer Fun

Sunday eve, we went for supper to Grandpa Wayne and Grandma Mary's. Candi, Hallie and Reese were there to visit. We had a lot of fun - under the sprinkler, riding bikes, catching lighting bugs (the pictures didn't turn out) and taking pictures by the flowers.

Catching Butterflies

When we got home from church this morning, there were lots of little white "butterflies" around the lawn. Caden and Allyson wanted to catch them. We were unsuccessful - but had lots of fun in the process.

Hot Saturday

It was a hot saturday afternoon, so after nap, the kids wanted to swim. They love their little pool. Grandpa Wayne stopped by with the Schwans truck and gave us a treat. Both really helped to cool us off!
Thanks Grandpa Wayne!

Trimming branches

We were trimming some branches and the kids thought it was
so much fun to drag the branches to the pile. If only dad and mom thought this work was fun!

Silly Faces

The kids love to pull faces - they wanted to pose for me to take this picture.
As you can see, there is never a dull moment in our house.

Lake Fun

For July 4th, the kids and I went to Yankton for the day. We spent our time playing on the playground, swimming in the lake, and playing in the sand. Caden was afraid of the waves at first - he kept saying "I don't wanna get wet" but that soon changed. Allyson was a little afraid at first too, but that changed and soon she was splashing away! There were so many waves that they would knock the kids over - so mom had to stay close by. We were so tired by the end of the afternoon, we went home and didn't even go to fireworks that night.

Circus - Horses

Wanted to try my hand at the slide show - hope you enjoy!
I do want to explain the pictures of the horses! Too bad the kids got scared before they started and never really got to ride. They both sat in the saddle long enough for the picture!
Allyson got scared first. When I asked her what scared her, she replied "the horse moved his foot." She started crying and wanted off. Then Caden didn't want to ride either.

Circus Fun

Riding Tractor

Caden and Allyson taking turns riding on the tractor with Grandpa Rick.

Outside Fun

Sometimes it takes a little extra help to find new ways to play with the same old toys.
Tyler uses the trike and one of Broc's tools from the garage to give Allyson a ride as Caden looks on!

Tyler and Allyson are "flying" upside down on the swings.

Baby Carly

I just couldn't resist adding this picture!
