First Day of Kindergarten

Wednesday was the first day of school.
The kids were so excited.
Tuesday evening, we went to open house to meet the teachers, and find where our rooms are.



















Wednesday morning, the kids were so excited to ride the bus. When I woke Caden up he asked me "is the bus here already?".






































There was a chapel that parents could attend at the end of the school day. I attended, and when Allyson saw me, she gave me a frustrated face and said "ugh - I didn't want you to come" I assured her that they could still ride the bus home.



















When they got home, I was waiting for them. Both ran to the house.
Allyson lost her shoe. Caden was first and gave me a big hug. Allyson was next with a big hug, and then the tears came. She was upset because her brother and a couple "big boys" on the bus were picking on her. Then she told me she wanted to ride home with me. After some consoling and suggesting that if they picked on her, she should sit in the seat behind the bus driver. I also talked with Caden and explained that brothers have to stick up for their sisters when other people are picking on them - and they can only pick on their sisters at home.














All in all, it was a great first day of school and both kids were just as excited on day 2.
Things also went better on the bus the second day.

Ears Pierced!

Allyson finally got her ears pierced.














This past winter, Allyson thought she wanted her ears pierced. Girls in her class had them, and she thought they looked really neat. We made an appointment to get it done, we got to the salon, she picked out the earrings, but once we tried to sit in the chair, that was it, she wanted nothing more but to get out of there. Sooo, I told her we would only go again when she was ready and she decided that is what she wanted.
She has been talking about getting her ears pierced again, and a couple days ago, I asked her if she wanted to get them pierced before school started. Yes - she did.
I made the appointment for today, hoping she would do it. All morning, she was excited to get it done. {We had dentist appointments first, and she didn't do so well there - no teeth cleaning today, just a quick peek in the mouth.} After that, I was really not to convinced that she would go through with getting her ears pierced. Allyson and I went into the salon, (we already had decided to go with some aquamarine colored earrings) so we waited for a chair to open, and Allyson went right over and sat in the chair. She watched them get the guns ready, clean her ears, mark her ears, and CLICK - she was done! She cried a little bit, but was done crying before we left the salon!
YEAH! Way to go Allyson - I am so proud of you for being so brave!

Horses

We went for a walk on the trails the other day and found this at the end. Allyson says she loves horses, and has said this for awhile. Well, she has only been around horses a couple times, and she is certainly not afraid. She would have climbed on her back for a ride, if I would have let her.
She is already talking about the next time we can go see the horses. Her goal is to get to ride one soon.

Neglected...That is what this blog has been feeling. LOL!

Well, I am hoping to post a little more regularly here.

The kids had some fun outside this afternoon. The only way to deal with the heat was to be cool in the water.

It was so hot and humid outside, that my camera was fogging up.
